Hello!

Next Wednesday, at 7pm, I will be hosting a short parent information evening for our MITIOG (Made In The Image Of God) curriculum that will run in term 3. This is the official program for sex education in South Australian Catholic Schools. It incorporates a sequential curriculum firmly based on Catholic moral teaching that is age appropriate. It is taught as part of and alongside our Religion, Child Protection and Health Programs.  We recognise the key role of parents in providing sex education for their children and we acknowledge, therefore, that the role of the Catholic school is to support parents in this area. This evening therefore, will provide parents the chance to access the curriculum before it’s taught to review it and ask any questions you may have. Please can you let the front office know if you plan on coming - Thanks!

This morning we had our second whole school mass for the year reflecting on St John the Baptist. Again, it was wonderful to have all of us together to pray and reflect and to consider how we can be like St John in preparing a way for Christ in ours and others lives.

Have a great week,

Miriam Honner

Spanish News

The highest railway in the world is in the Spanish speaking country of Peru, in South America. It is so high, as it travels from the capital city of Lima, into the Andes mountain range, that some people become unwell with altitude sickness. The authorities pack oxygen tanks and masks, to give to any passenger who feels unwell because they are travelling so high.

Imagine being on the highest railway in the whole world!

Hi all!

It is wonderful to see students riding bikes, scooters and skateboards to school. This is a fantastic way to get some incidental exercise in and some fresh air to start the day.

However, it has been noticed by staff members that some students are riding their bikes etc without a helmet.

I would like to take this time to remind all parents that under the Australian Road Rules, it is a requirement to wear a safety helmet while riding a bike, scooter or skateboard.

In future if students are coming to school without a helmet, they will not be able to ride their equipment home as it is our duty of care to ensure they are safe when leaving the school site.

Thanks,

Amy Kennedy

At the time of printing the last newsletter, Lukas Rowe had just finished running Cross Country. We are thrilled to say that Lukas ran the 2km over natural terrain in a time of 8 minutes and 20 seconds which is phenomenal! Well done Lukas!
