Middle Primary News

05 May 2021
The Middle Primary Class has had a busy start to Term 2 with many learning challenges presented to them. We have been very busy preparing for the upcoming NAPLAN tests as well as settling back into school, for a busy term ahead. In Literacy we have been focusing on developing persuasive texts by using muscle words to enhance our arguments as well as developing our language conventions. In Mathematics the class has been working on money and how we calculate change. As a class we created our own scenarios where we would shop for materials. Throughout all of this, the focus for our Social Emotional Learning has been Growth Mindset. With this uncertain time of NAPLAN approaching, this has been incredibly important for all students. It has been quite common to hear students continuously apply Growth Mindset language into their lessons and continuing to show perseverance.

RE News

05 May 2021

Hello! And welcome back to school. We have had a busy start to the term with preparations being made for our Mother’s Day liturgy being held tomorrow at 1:45pm and our first whole school Mass next Thursday May 13 at 9:15am. Looking back at this time last year when we were not able to have whole school masses or parents on site, we are so fortunate to be back holding these beautiful services for our school community. We look forward to seeing as many mothers, grandmothers, aunties and other family members at our liturgy tomorrow which will be followed by an afternoon tea and an opportunity to have a look at your child’s/ren’s classroom.

Next Thursday’s Mass we will be honouring Mary, Mother of Jesus, in this month of May which is traditionally dedicated to her. Mass will start at 9:15am and you are all most welcome to join us for this special celebration.

Finally, our Project Compassion campaign is officially over, and we raised a total of $398! Whilst not hitting our target of $500, this is a huge increase from last years $101!!! So, thank you so very much to everyone that helped to raise money for such a worthy cause.

God Bless,

Miriam

Dear Families,

Welcome to our New Newsletter!

Welcome to our new format for the newsletter. Some of you may be reading this online, some on your phones at work whether that be behind a desk or Seeder, some of you reading the good old-fashioned hard copy. The important thing is though…that you are reading it!

Our new format of newsletter will capture highlights from each of the classrooms, and the various areas in our school. It will have many voices and articles appear, including by the middle of this term an article from our leaders.

Choir News

04 May 2021
This term, the 5/6/7 class is continuing their choir training to perform in September at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. (Date to be announced in the next two weeks) we are currently learning the accompanying choreography for specific songs.
Our musical repertoire is vast and varied! It encompasses a variety of genres which the children thoroughly enjoy. The concert’s finale will showcase a “Beatles” Medly. In total, we are covering sixty eight pages of music!
Over the next two terms, we will have the opportunities to combine with the total South Australian  Catholic Music Festival Choir to rehearse with the band and orchestra. That’s where the real fun begins!

This week we are celebrating Catholic Education Week. The Junior Primary Unit have been involved with different activities all week to celebrate the theme of 'Raising Hearts and Minds to the wonder and awe of God's creation'. They have enjoyed writing gratitude prayers, making bookmarks to share within the community, planting seeds in our school garden and participating in our liturgy.
